Trump Releases Campaign-Style Political Ad Following FBI’s Raid on Mar-a-Lago

Shortly after the unprecedented FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago, Trump posted a political campaign-styled video on Truth Social. In the three-minute video, Trump details the many ways in which the U.S. has entered a state of decline since Biden assumed office. The video also hints at Trump’s animosity towards the Democratic establishment that continues to level dishonest legal accusations against him.

Joe Biden is only halfway through his presidency and has already accrued a laundry list of failures. Trump’s latest political ad strikes at many of these key failures, clearly showing the dismal political prospects for Joe Biden, and the Democratic party more generally, in the future:

We are a nation in decline. We are a failing nation. We are a nation that has the highest inflation in over 40 years…We are a nation that has the highest energy costs in its history and we are no longer energy independent or energy dominant-which we were just two years ago. We are a nation that surrendered in Afghanistan… We are a nation that allowed Russia to devastate a country, Ukraine.

Trump’s political ad is certainly thorough. In addition to these failures, Trump accuses the Biden administration of overseeing the fall of the freedom of speech, the em-boldenedment of China, increased COVID transmission rates, economic collapse, and more.

This recent political ad is certainly a persuasive hit piece against the Biden administration. But one specific line from the video shows why Trump released the ad immediately after the FBI’s raid:

We are a nation that has weaponized law enforcement against the opposing political party like never before- we have never seen anything like this.

Trump is correct. we have never seen anything like this. The FBI’s raid of former President Donald Trump is without precedent and was likely a political hit job. Mainstream liberal news outlet Politico described the raid the following way:

The most aggressive law enforcement action taken against a former American president.

The FBI’s raid of Mar-a-Lago was based in the belief that Trump possessed classified documents. In 2021, the National Archives and Records Administration recovered 15 boxes from his home in West Palm Beach that contained classified documents. Because of this, the FBI claims they had reasonable suspicion that Trump possessed additional classified documents, and, thus, must be raided.

This raid may have been justified if it weren’t for Donald Trump’s consistent communication with officials at the National Archives and Records Administration and his total cooperation in recent months. Trump was reportedly “dumbfounded” by the swarm of FBI agents that invaded his home and broke open his safe.

Prominent leftists on Twitter were exceedingly happy with the FBI’s raid of Mar-a-Lago. However, more politically knowledgeable Democrats realize that this raid will negatively impact their public perception. Democratic presidential Candidate Andrew Yang tweeted

Trump’s political ad is the most recent sign that he plans to run again in 2024.

With Biden’s long list of failures and the FBI’s clear opposition to the former president, Trump’s odds of victory continue to increase.
