Devin Nunes to Retire from Congress to Become CEO Trump’s Social Media Alternative, Truth Social

Aggravated with the lies from the mainstream media, Donald Trump is now looking to provide reliable information through a new social media app named Truth Social.

Trump is not the only republican politician who sees this as a fruitful avenue, Devin Nunes has announced he is retiring from congress to lead Truth Social as their CEO starting January.

It is no small thing for Nunes to retire from Congress. Throughout his career, he has been a prominent republican figure and was next in line to become chairman of the powerful tax-writing Ways and Means Committee. It is evident from his retirement statement that he believes he can bring about better change for the American people and culture through his position as CEO of Truth Social. In a press release he stated the following:

Recently, I was presented with a new opportunity to fight for the most important issues I believe in…The time has come to reopen the Internet and allow for the free flow of ideas and expression without censorship. The United States of America made the dream of the Internet a reality and it will be an American company that restores the dream. I’m humbled and honored President Trump has asked me to lead the mission and the world class team that will deliver on this promise.

Nothing has been quite as transformative as the internet in terms of revolutionizing the way that information is distributed, which is why Nunes and Trump see it as essential to keep these avenues of information open. Due to the internet, leftist news networks have seen a massive decline in viewership as individuals are able to find alternative and reliable sources of information elsewhere.

However, the leviathan that is the mainstream media refuses to die peacefully. Instead, they push for censorship of alternative sources of media and pressure social media companies to decrease the traffic of conservative news. Reuters states that this massive amount of funding for Truth social is a reflection of Trump’s ability to attract strong financial banking with his business and political identity. Truth Social will be going public through the acquisition firm Digital World Acquisition Corp (DWAC). DWAC also is providing $293 million for the partnership with Trump’s media venture, totaling Truth Social’s evaluation to a shockingly high $1.25 billion.

With Twitter obtaining a new CEO, Parag Agrawal, who is an opponent of the first amendment, the need for a new online public square is all the more necessary. We can expect Truth Social under Devin Nunes’ leadership to become a competitive alternative to social media titans, especially seeing how successful its early fundraising has been.
